About Me

I am teaching “Ecology in a changing world (247.783)" and supervising students for different research projects.

I have a broad understanding of wildlife conservation and management, as I have led a variety of projects, each funded through individual small grants from different international organisations. I have expertise in biodiversity, wildlife, climate change, spatial analysis, and diet analysis. I have worked on mammal research and conservation in Nepal and some of my most significant research on brown bear across the Himalaya confirmed the existence of a small population of brown bear, documented human-bear conflict, and developed a network with local people to improve the bear conservation efforts in the region. In recognition of my research and my contribution towards brown bear research and conservation, I have been appointed Co-Chair of IUCN/SSC/Bear Specialist Group/South Asian Brown Bear Expert Team (SABBET). I am also an active member of the Deer Specialist Group and Lagomorpha Specialist Group of IUCN.
