Ecological study of Swamp deer (Cervus duvauceli duvauceli) in Nepal
Published On: 2015-05-29

Our PhD student Hemanta Kumar Yadav (Supervisor Weihong Ji) is now carrying out research on ecology of endangered swamp deer in Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve (Front photo), Nepal. With the help of field research assistants, he is now collecting data on population structure and seasonal dynamics of social structure of swamp deer in Shuklaphanta grassland. He has also attempted to collar swamp deer with VHF collars in the month of April. However the darting was not successful due to the shy nature of swamp deer and the interruptions of the earthquake! Hemanta and the team will try again at the end of May.
